Google account requires an email ID password to sign in. When you lose your account password, you will need to reset it using recovery methods. You will need to authenticate your Google Account using these recovery options. Google Account can only be used when you sign in to your account. This way, you can secure your account using a secure password. But some users forget their account password and later request to reset their Google account.
How to authenticate a Google account?
- Go to your Google Account login page.
- Enter your email ID and click Next.
- Click the "Forgot Password" button.
- Enter the last password you remember.
- Click the Next button.
- Choose how you want to authenticate your Google Account.
- You can choose to verify your identity with a recovery email ID or registered phone number.
- You can also verify your identity by choosing a two-step verification password.
- When you select your recovery email ID, you will receive a verification code in the recovery email account mailbox.
- Use that password to authenticate yourself to Google and then set a new password.
- When you select your phone number to verify your identity, you will receive a verification code as a text SMS. Use this code to authenticate your Google Account.
Set a new password for your account.
You can now sign in to your Google Account using the new password.
